One tattoo is a Japanese design, a koi fish turning into a dragon, which is big and the other is Atlas, holding a globe. I’m a 24 year old white guy from California, so I’m obviously not a Yakuza, but still understand the taboo in Japan. What is the general opinion of the Japan’s younger generation (25 and under) towards tattoos? I know overall they are still looked upon negatively, but it seems like younger people are more open and accepting. I want to live there eventually, but don’t know if it will cause me problems. Since they are in an area that’s easy to cover, I don’t think it will be a huge issue, but I’m still concerned. I’m a corporate, business type, so I always dress nice, am very courteous and don’t look like trouble. I know there are tattoo shops in Japan, so there must be a certain level of acceptance.

i’m 16 now and I’m thinking of getting done after december 7th next year when I’ll be 18 so I have a least a year and half to think about what I want done.
I’m thinking of getting a full japanese style design because Japanese Tattoo’s have always intrested me and I think they look beautiful. Hopefully if i still want one next year i’ll be getting a dragon,koi and a lotus flower on it amongst other things that I have yet to think of so i was wondering have what I though of cover
my whole arm or can you recommend some other designs that

I just graduated high school and am going off to college soon. I have really high goals for myself (law school).

The koi fish can represent courage, aspiration, the ability to obtain goals, and it also means good luck.

The legend is that if a koi fish succeeded in swimming up the Yellow River falls it would cross that "Dragon Gate" and transform into a dragon.

I want to get a small koi fish on my lower back with water around it so that it kind of looks like it’s swimming up a waterfall. Then once I get through school, graduate, start my career, etc. I want to get a dragon at the top of my back between my shoulders.

Is that kinda stupid? I personally really like the idea, but be completely honest.

I’ve seen a lot of people with koi tattoos, is it a bit overdone and unoriginal?
